I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

I really don't get Mastodon at all, I ended up making an account under a group of Polish furries or something because all other art groups were full. I'm not tech-savvy, I don't understand why it has to be insular like that (nothing against Polish furries of course, I just don't speak the language)

I think all this flak the staff is receiving is deserved and justified even if they're technically in the right. By underestimating the community and mocking them, they have lost all the trust. They expect us to behave like little machines under an algorithm and get frustrated when we don't
