The egalitarian position says we are all free to figure out the right thing. The patriarchal position says we should all be under patriarchal authority if we want to do the right thing. You can't believe both of these positions. Or convince me that you can believe both.

As a nation, you have to believe that everybody has a place at the table, or you believe that only an elite few (or one) with the right answers and beliefs and the correct authority should be at the table, and everybody else should listen to them (or him).

Some Americans believe that all people are equal, but other Americans believe that some people are more equal than others. We are both egalitarian and patriarchal at the same time. They don't go together. You can't be egalitarian and patriarchal at the same time.
