more recently, i tried fire red on gba and had a similar experience where i lost interest because i kept getting unskippable tutorials about stuff like how to walk with the d-pad and press the A button to select things

anecdotally, myself and some other people back in the day bounced off twilight princess at launch because the tutorial zone in the town felt so long, and i think i even got confused as to what to do at one point in the first town and gave up.
i went back and beat it and enjoyed it later but yeah

hi alucard!
lady dracula is an indie classicvania coming out next year. it’s a two-person dev team, just me and a musician.
it’s a linear platformer, so not a metroidvania. more like cv1, 3, rondo, etc. i also incorporate elements from donkey kong, yoshi’s island, ninja gaiden, etc.
