Exactly! I enjoy making these diagrams because they make me realize/clarify system attributes. Generating these diagrams (esp in a 1 shot like this) betrays lack of understanding of the system in addition to what you said

Agree with moving out of Whatsapp, but govts doing this is def not good as they'll probably just forcefully move users to an app where they can surveil citizens directly instead of through Meta. This is especially true with a lot of Asian/African countries where Whatsapp is super prevalent

Sign in with email existed before Sign in with Google/<Provider> though. I don't think the uphill battle has *that* steep a slope

Yeah it's unfortunate that the community consensus for the language (e.g. internethandle.org) is a pretty recent phenomenon. Still never too late for bsky to change their first time user messaging

For me Gemini 3 Pro and Opus were the turning points! Gemini is particularly really good at creating UIs better than I can (**as a dev and not a designer)

* to clarify I didn't mean raising huge round => they're good people lol

this was pretty close to my takeaway tho back then, seemed like a huge dependency as an app developer. Then again, they raised a huge round and I got good advice from the CEO so they're def good people with good intentions
I'm pretty familiar with it from my work in crypto, and my only true gripe is that it depends on a network of nodes, and those nodes depend on blockchain infra like RPC providers. Lots of unnecessary overhead to make something "decentralized." Would advise caution. docs.xmtp.org/network/run-...

Yeah they were one of the first people building address to address messaging on eth. I built on their stuff for a hackathon many yrs ago, was pretty impressed by their infra's maturity given how long they had been around at the time. They were using Waku afaik (at least back then)

LLMs do engage in goal seeking though, if you frame it as query resolution. Totally anecdotal but thinking does feel like querying to me in a lot of ways,

Someone recently gave me an interesting point of view that for the first time we have intelligence without agency, whereas there are several instances of the other way, ranging in complexity from viruses and microbes all the way up to us primates

Agreed, although it's unfortunate they weren't upfront about this
