We are not bending the knee.

Congratulations to Nobel Prize winner Mary Brunkow, a UW alum whose research in Seattle has led to important developments in addressing autoimmune disease, complications from organ transplants, and cancer.

Washingtonians are among the most innovative people in the world.

Voters upheld the Climate Commitment Act by a landslide last year.

Today, the Supreme Court shot down a legal challenge.

As the federal government is abandoning critical climate protections, Washington's leadership is needed now more than ever. This is an important win.

We have the most beautiful Capitol in the country. I am grateful for the quick work of our Department of Enterprise Services and the Washington State Patrol to bring this individual safely into custody.

Last night, an intruder broke into the Legislative Building and damaged several facilities and historical artifacts.

There was significant damage in our State Reception Room, which is a particularly important space. We are still assessing the damage.

The FAFSA unlocks opportunities for higher education, job training, and apprenticeships.

Your tuition could be fully paid for by the WA Grant.

Every eligible student should take advantage of this money and fill out the FAFSA.

Our state cabinet agencies have been in the process of reviewing all existing practices around data and personal and private information.

My new executive order ensures that work continues to protect Washington residents.
Text from top to bottom: Executive Order 25-09 | Reaffirming Washington's Commitment to Protecting the Rights and Interests of Immigrant Communities | "Effective immediately... all cabinet agencies shall continue to review their data collection, sharing, and retention policies to ensure they are treating the protection of residents' personal and private information as a matter of public interest and safety." | Signature from Gov

Donald Trump is attacking thousands of jobs in Cowlitz, Spokane, Skagit, Lewis, and Whitman counties.

Those are jobs for projects involving zero-emission commercial vehicles, lower industrial greenhouse gas emissions, affordable solar panel technologies, and more.

The Trump administration is canceling more than $1.1 billion in grants for energy projects across Washington state, including the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub. That hub will create a clean hydrogen economy across our region.

The FAFSA is open.

If you’re a parent, make sure you and your student are taking advantage of Washington’s financial aid. Don’t leave money on the table.

On-time performance for the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route went from 73.6% last year to 85.7% this year.

I’m grateful for the service of all the ferry workers who are making it possible to fix the ferries.
governorferguson.bsky.social
This summer, we restored the ferry system to full domestic service. Some stats from Washington State Ferries:

We added almost 50% more service on the Seattle/Bremerton route and saw nearly 150,000 more passengers use the route.

About 30,000 more passengers rode the Port Townsend/Coupeville route.

It is outrageous that this administration is using a government shutdown to punish blue states like Washington. We’re working with the Attorney General’s Office to fight this illegal action.

In this moment of federal overreach and cruelty, it’s particularly important to know your rights.

Washington state will always stand up for the rule of law.

To all who are recognizing Yom Kippur, I hope you have a fulfilling time of reflection and prayer.

The WA Grant can also cover job training like certificate programs and registered apprenticeships.

Whatever path you choose, the state of Washington is here to support you.

You can now fill out the FAFSA!

About half of Washington families qualify for the Washington College Grant (WA Grant). A student from a family of four making $72,000 or less can get the equivalent of free public college tuition and fees for their post-high school program paid.

Dear High School Senior:

Fill out the FAFSA today.
Now is the time to think about your future. I have good news about the career pathways and financial help
available here in Washington. Whatever path you choose, the state of Washington is here to support you.
Countless possibilities lie ahead in higher education, job training and apprenticeships. Washington state
has the most generous financial support available to you. This money can help manage your costs. You’ll
never know how much money you can get for school or training unless you apply. Go to
wsac.wa.gov/apply to get started and complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) today!
Many of you may qualify for free college and job training. For example, about half of Washington
families qualify for the Washington College Grant (WA Grant) and it pays for more than just for college
tuition. For example, a student from a family of four making $72,000 or less can get the equivalent of free
public college tuition and fees for their post-high school program paid.
Yes, it’s true: the state could cover all your tuition and fees if you are eligible. Learn more and check your
eligibility at https://wsac.wa.gov/wcg.
Many opportunities are open to you, whether you’re thinking about college or planning to transition into
the workforce but, keep in mind, over 70 percent of jobs require some education beyond high school.
State financial aid programs like the WA Grant and College Bound can be used at over 65 public and
private colleges in Washington, including our state universities, community and technical colleges, and
private institutions. The WA Grant can also cover job training like certificate programs and registered
apprenticeships.
To access this money, you must apply for financial aid using a federal or state application: either the
FAFSA or the WASFA. Need help? Text "Hi OtterBot" to 360-928-7281 to get free help and remember
that the new FAFSA is now shorter and simpler, making it quicker and

Washington is home to nearly 80,000 federal workers. Many of those workers will be furloughed, temporarily laid off, or forced to work without pay through a shutdown.

Our Employment Security Department is prepared to help federal workers find resources they need to get through the shutdown.

The president should stop playing games with services the people of Washington pay for and rely on, as well as the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of government workers.

President Trump controls the White House and both chambers of Congress. It’s clear where the responsibility lies to keep the government running.

Washington is among the most generous states in the nation in funding job training and apprenticeships. I encourage high school seniors interested in the trades to fill out the FAFSA — opening tomorrow.

2 Washington trades teachers, from just 25 honorees across the nation, received recognition today from Harbor Freight's Tools for Schools program.

Thank you to Jon Cerio from Rogers HS in Puyallup and Sam Garson from Friday Harbor HS for helping young people find the trades.
