That's indeed shortsighted, though Germany has done much worse then shutting down nuclear it also didn't build out nuclear they are really good at it.
They sponsored Russia with decades of buying gas.
Kept coal on much longer and at higher levels.
And has forced out nuclear for long in Europe.
