The same goes for observations and perspectives -- it's not always the case that all work should generalize, and in many epistemologies this isn't a goal. Key to GPC is that we help grow our field by widening the coordinate space of what we claim to "know" (and where we "know" it from).
December 15, 2025 at 7:46 PM
As such, we've asked our reviewers to forego remarks about the representativeness of observations -- data collected is data collected, and we need to hear from (literally) everyone if we're going to build a knowledge base for communication scholarship.

(3) We recognize that one reason (among many) that we exist is to ensure that scholarship from all over the globe can find a potential home.
December 15, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Unless content is truly confusing to read, we've asked that reviewers refrain from copy-editing and rather, focus on content. Again here, our editorial staff can assist with fine-tuning later in the process.
December 15, 2025 at 7:46 PM
(2) We've asked our reviewers explicitly to disregard concerns over grammar and other "Englishes." As a truly global journal, our readers + editors + authors come from all over and thus, we realize that there are many different ways to communicate in English. Bowman) if you'd like to gab. =)

Thus, the only real enforcement we have is our length: we'll take shorter (4K words) or longer (8K) manuscripts. After that? Format in whichever way makes sense to you. Only at "revision" stage to we ask for a standardized APA format, and our editorial team can help guide you on this.
December 15, 2025 at 7:46 PM
However, we do three things that are a bit unique in our review process:

(1) We do not enforce any sort of formatting for initial submissions. We realize that scholarship from all over the globe will take so many different forms and formats.

✅ Our current "desk reject" rate is about 70%. That's a bit high, but our "desk rejects" offer extensive feedback for resubmissions and indeed, we've already seen a few of those papers (a) resubmitted and (b) move on to "revise and resubmit!"

✅ We've already accepted FIVE papers for 2026!
December 8, 2025 at 1:54 PM
✅ We've had 35 original submission, 33 manuscripts (8K words) and 2 brief reports (4K words)

✅ For full-length manuscripts, average time from submission to decision is 47 days; for research reports, it's 20 days

✅ We've received papers from 11 different countries!
