I got a bunch of waterproof pads (and mire sheets!) for my kids. On laundry day I would make their beds like a lasagna: pad, sheet, pad, sheet, etc. Probably 6 or 7 layers. Then, in the middle of the night, I could just strip off the wet layer without fully waking up.

I’m reading Soil by Camille T. Dungy, who turned her suburban, HOA-compliant yard into a beautiful drought resistant paradise. It sounds like a lot of work, but well worth it in the end.
