Even the Hitler Youth, who in the later years of the war engaged in actual combat and were even suspected of some war crimes, were generally absolved, as we understood that they were not responsible for the fascist propaganda they had been fed during their upbringing.

The Nazis were big on German nationalism too. Lots of people were into unsubscribing Nazis from life at the time. This obviously did not extend to baby Germans, because we all had the common sense to understand that babies could not be Nazis.

Even if we take that at face value and ignore the parts you omitted, babies still can't hold that belief. Because they're babies. They don't know what any of that means or the context surrounding it.
