The Conference closed with African states adopting a "Declaration by the representatives of African States Parties on the universalisation and comprehensive implementation of the Biological Weapons Convention" - to be delivered to the BWC Meeting of States Parties this December.

The work doesn’t end here – GP partners remain engaged and active in confronting WMD threats worldwide and helping vulnerable states keep their populations safe.

We closed the week with France – incoming G7 and GP President for 2026 – sharing their vision and priorities for the year ahead.

Key outcomes from Canada’s presidency:

✅ Agreed next steps to tackle cross-cutting challenges like WMD disinfo, strategic trade controls and WMD-relevant technologies
