The Substance is a perfectly imperfect love letter to many iconic horror predecessors. Beyond that, it effectively explores how American society pits older women and younger women against each other (we are one!) and ultimately despises and ridicules us when we try our best to be loved. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
