August 19, 2025 Next stop on the SSHRC funded research tour was Brno, Czech Republic. The tour began with a pivotal visit to the Ethnographic Institute of the Moravian Museum, housed in the Palace of Noble Ladies.

I travelled from Winnipeg to Prague on August 10, 2025, the first of my SSHRC funded research trips to central Europe in search of collections of Anabaptist/Haban ceramics, sites of production, and to make connections with experts in the field.

I am pleased to announce that I have received a SSHRC Insight Grant in support of researching the historical and contemporary impact of Anabaptist/Haban ceramics, a three-hundred year period of maiolica production that took place from the mid-1500s to the late 1800s in central and eastern Europe.

My award-winning piece, Untitled (Moth Series) is being shown in a new museum in Yixing, China in the exhibition The Ways of Clay: Select Award-Winning Works from the International Ceramics Festival Mino of the Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu, Japan, from October 19, 2024 to February 23, 2025.

I’m thrilled to announce that a book of the conference proceedings for Nomadisms has been published: Nomadisms: Essays Mapping the Manitoba-Szeged Partnership edited by Réka M. Cristian. My talk titled, "Anabaptist Potters: A Historical and Contemporary Legacy” can be found on pg. 47 to pg. 57.
