A butterfly, ladybird & bee are playing plant charades. It's the bee's turn. After doing the whole words/syllables thing she simply stands there. Doesn't move at all. After several minutes the others admit defeat & ask "okay, what was it then?" She sighs. "Astilbe!" #Gardening

Sounds like a good plan. I usually wait and do all my bulbs in November but it is a slog #GardensHour

The first lot of bulbs have arrived in the post. Thankfully, just the tulips so far which means I can put off planting them until November! #GardensHour

Hold on to your hats it's a stormy old #SixOnSaturday today, completely misrepresenting the weather with pics taken in the occasional random sunny spell this week (see alt-text for details). Have a good (or at least safe) weekend everyone 🌱📷

Quite possibly the last full sized bloom from the white and purple dahlia 'Tartan', the latest flower bud of echinacea 'sombrero salsa', verbena bonariensis carrying on regardless, geranium praetense flowering again for some reason, feverfew not stopping flowering for any reason and forget-me-nots and lillypads in a miniature pond that is now full to the brim!

My lot from Sarah Raven & J. Parkers have yet to be despatched but those from Suttons arrived before the end of the week!

The Calendula out the front are still flowering, but the other morning I was confused why some had a pink hue. I was rather excited, thinking I’d ended up with a new variety until I realised it was caused by the sun shining through one of the rear red lights of my car! #GardensHour 🌱

Evening all. Bulbs have been ordered - more than I initially intended unfortunately. Hopefully, I'll feel suitably motivated to plant them by the time they arrive... #GardensHour 🌱

This week's highlights include bellflower, pirouette rose, spring bulbs, a tidyish greenhouse, a ladybird and magic conkers. Plus the old roman road under Frome Town centre.
