Most of the damselflies at Amersham Flood today were Scarce Blue-Tailed. Just a few Common Blue Tailed and Common Blue( one having succumbed to a Furrowed Orb Weaver. Water Scorpion was nice to see. @chilternstreams.bsky.social

Chrysotoxum verralli is a species of hoverfly belonging to the subfamily Syrphinae.

Stratiomys longicornis, the long-horned general, is a European species of soldier fly.

This katydid from Ecuador has been affectionately named by photographers "candy-cane katydid". The truth is... we are not sure which species it is. One possibility is a Harroweria nymph, but until someone witnesses the transformation into the adult stage it will remain a mystery.
