No need to be sorry for me, I was 18 when communism fell so still young enough to turn my life around. Having lived through authoritarian regime (although pretty moderate), emerging wild East democracy and now a settled democracy, I consider myself lucky for this perspective.

I grew up in communist Czechoslovakia under the Soviet occupation and I assure you, we had Parliament elections, too. We even had proportional representation system a 3 parties so that the communists didn’t look like dictators.

Yeah, no. I hate Orban and his government but the last one shooting his citizens in the streets was Putin’s puppet Lukashenko in Belarus. But he’s been running a dictatorship for 30 years now.

I was born in early Seventies in Czechoslovakia. Were there any mission in Czechoslovakia? I would think that around the crackdown on alternative culture in the late 1970s they would be useful.
