I don't know if I can get into Strive without dropping $100, and Strive is only 4 years old! But if you have no DLC or minimal DLC, people are still confident years later that they can pick up the game and experience it how it was meant to be experienced.

there's so much DLC I have to wonder, am I allowed to just buy the base game? Or if I do so, am I going to feel like I'm in a lose-lose situation where I've already spent money on an incomplete experience, and the only way to potentially make it worth it is by spending more money on the DLC?...

If I could convince you to try Risk of Rain 2, it's a great co-op roguelike! I've played Among Us like twice in my life, but if we could get a crew I'd love to play. I'd also give Phasmophobia a go (never played)
