Strong/severe storms are possible between 3 PM and 10 PM in central NM Tuesday. These storms could also drop heavy rain as they move into eastern parts of the state tonight, where a Flood Watch is in effect until 6 AM Wednesday. #NMwx

The first Mass Ascension of Balloon Fiesta this year looks questionable 🫤winds on the ground may get a little breezy and become much stronger just off the ground. Sunday is looking much calmer!

Albuquerque had consistent and overall above average dew points almost all monsoon season. Despite that, we ended up 1.41" below average with 3.07" of rain this year. The 32nd driest monsoon on record of 134 years. It was also the 5th warmest.

A record number of Flash Flood Warning were issued in New Mexico during this year's monsoon season. 379 in total, beating the old record from 2022 by just 13 warnings. Lincoln County, where Ruidoso is, had the second highest on record. Props to the NWS offices in New Mexico!

That's a wrap on the 2025 monsoon season. ~75% of New Mexico ended with near to above average rainfall! Some mountain ranges picked up >20" of rain! Northwest New Mexico missed out on most of the monsoon this year with <50% of their average rainfall.

This weekend will likely be our last taste of the monsoon this year. Widespread showers/storms are likely Saturday and Sunday. Heavy rain is possible with some places picking up over 1" of rain through Monday. The monsoon is going out with a bang! #NMwx

A few strong to severe storms will be possible across central New Mexico Monday afternoon, including the Albuquerque Metro. Storms will move west to east across the state. Biggest threat is going to be strong winds and heavy rain. #NMwx

Heavy rain caused flash flooding along I-25 at the San Felipe Pueblo. Radar estimates as much as 2” of rain fell. Traffic on I-25 in the area is still backed up.

Here are some of the *new* special shapes coming to Balloon Fiesta! There will be 100 special shape balloons. 11 new this year. Fan favorites like the Bees, Airabelle, Smokey Bear, Steggy, Darth Vader and Master Yoda Balloon will return. Balloon Fiesta is October 4-12, 2025.

Everytime I go hiking, I always end up taking pictures like it’s the first time I’m seeing it. NM’s scenery is so beautiful, it’s hard to not stop and take a picture, even if it’s the 20th time I’ve hiked this trail. It’s also so nice to see how green the Sandias are!
