I think Mark Brown put it best when he said that both remakes see the original’s quirks as flaws to be fixed rather than things that stand it apart. They both tried to make Metroid 2 “fit” with the other 2d games rather than letting it stand out. That’s why I think the original is worth playing.

AM2R is probably the best choice if you’re very used to the older 2d games, particularly the GBA titles. Samus Returns is good if you’ve played dread or plan on playing dread, but both remakes are very fun in their own right. Neither quite gets what Metroid 2 was going for though.

To fully enjoy Metroid 2 you need a map open in another device - not even making your own like with Metroid NES will be enough as Metroid 2 is a lot like another 2nd game in that it’s world overlaps on itself a lot. There are some online maps that clear things up a lot. It’s not as hard as 1 either.

Bit late but I’d say all 3 are worth a go - the original is the most artistically interesting of the 3, it really strikes its own tone & themes compared to the rest of the series. It’s clunky for sure, but neither remake fully captures what it was going for. Definitely the most outdated though.

If the game still feels a bit weird to control after that that’s probably due to the deadzones in analog stick input. In the community controller configs there’s one called “SotFS deadzone fix” which should fix that feeling. Hope this helps!

I strongly recommend it, it’s my favourite of the trilogy, even if it’s the only souls game where it feels necessary to give a bit of advice before going in. Level adaptability (ADP) until your agility (AGL) is 105 before anything else. It increases your roll iframes & estus use speed to the max.

It should be, not sure where this list is sourced from but last sales update I can find for split fiction was 4 million - silksong has sold 7 million so it should at the very least be bottom of this list

Most tools downsides’ aren’t on a societal level. And this assumes an AI saves time. If the placeholder is completely meaningless, you could use loren ipsum or put “insert text” which is quicker than a prompt. But if it matters then you have to check what it says or risk it influencing development.

Yes I would. Even in the best case scenario, where using the ai would save time over not, the other negative factors of ai use would outweigh the time saved.

I really hope they reconsider using AI in their work pipelines because as is I’m not buying Divinity if it’s made with AI (in the final product or otherwise).

There’s something so alluring about the really strong 2 handed weapons in DS1 in particular. The zweihander, claymore, great club, black knight halberd etc. find it very difficult to use a different kind of weapon in a replay
