Joe suggests (and you agree) Dems have "gone too far to the left" by adopting values like respecting preferred personal pronouns (presumably of those who may be trans or use they/them). Why shouldn't ALL political parties endorse the use of respectful language in civil society and discourse?

there are so many good reasons to abolish it altogether, which his action undermines. Reserving its use for "terrorists" just means "political enemies" can still be executed, and nothing has yet been done to mitigate the reasons the system gets it so wrong so often.

Yes, absolutely. This doesn't go anywhere near far enough towards justice to tip those scales. And #BillieAllen should be freed, not commuted to life, he is an innocent man.

well-said. I remember Dylan Roof being forgiven by some survivors as well. And who can say that anyone who commits such harm isn't seriously mentally ill? The DP does not prevent future such acts through deterrence, nor does it hep people heal.

biden is full of contradictions. He listed many good reasons why the death penalty (that he rigged as a lawmaker) should be suspended and re-evaluated - he undermined them by letting these 3 exceptions stand despite the flaws in the system he says should be fixed.

but commuting them all would show consistency with the argument Garland made in 2021 that the system is unjust and needs an overhaul before there are any more executions...this just undermines that point. And letting those 3 to be executed does not seem just, even if done for a 'greater good'.
December 23, 2024 at 1:35 PM
really. leaving those remaining 3 to die seems to undermine all his arguments for opposing it - its not likes he's done anything to fix the system he got when he suspended federal executions. also, #BillieAllen is an innocent man, who is once again being condemned to die in prison with this.
December 23, 2024 at 1:29 PM
Yes, thank you for saying that. The system is still "broken" (a design of white supremacy); leaving 3 men to die still doesn't protect us from the future Dylann Roofs, or prevent us from executing the future Nelson Mandelas; and #BillieAllen
is an innocent man and needs to be pardoned completely.
December 23, 2024 at 1:26 PM
#BillieAllen is an innocent man - this doubles down on his conviction, instead of being justice. And leaving 3 men to die still doesnt protect us from the future Dylann Roofs, or prevent us from executing the future Nelson Mandelas.

This kind of dehumanization is emblematic of 1934 Germany. She's calling transgender people subhuman.
