And here's a breakdown on why I love the original Metroid 2 on Game Boy so much entropypump.wordpress.com/2017/10/03/m...

Part of the appeal of the original GB M2 was its claustrophobic nature; the small screen and the limited color palette basically created something entirely unique. AM2R is a good game, but the choices in terms of visuals and screen space make for something less interesting than the original

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is a typical case of more isn't always better, the original version had tight pacing, and the new addition sort of makes the overall game worse, despite having a bit more content.

It's snowing here today as well; there's just something lovely about fresh snow being everywhere. I never get tired of it

I did play Blasphehmous for like 70% or so then lost interest, I plan to get back to it one day and finish it, it's A-tier at least from what I played, though it had some things that irked me in the beginning

Copilot and chatGPT are still gen AI, at least in the sense that they make new stuff from prompts.

Using these tools for a project (any industry) actively harms the user (by not improving their own skills), their project (by introducing errors/backlash) and the environment.

It's always a bad look

I'm not even against using parts of old guides, but it has to be done by someone who actually knows interior design, what parts to use and what to showcase

So yeah, I stand by my words, the first SNES maps book is garbage. I have the digital version of their Genesis maps book, which suffers from exactly the same problem, so I doubt books 2 and 3 of the SNES maps are much better.

On the outside, the book looks great, custom new cover, good print quality. But the actual content feels like someone just threw together some old scanned resources from the web without investing a second into making the scans at least cohesive in size and quality and whatnot. Just looks cheap

So to me, its name is rather deceitful.

I also wonder what the legality of these reprints is. Did that fly under Nintendo's radar that someone reprinted material from their old player's guides?

The book in general has no clue what it wants to be: a visual guide to painted "game maps", level maps, which is an entirely different beast IMHO, an overview of various games and their levels, or a compact game guide. It's not good at anything, but it's closest to SNES games' level overviews.

The layout is a joke; it reprints old English and Japanese SNES game guides, sometimes 20 pages or more on one page, and everything is so tiny it's neither useful as a guide anymore nor is it useful from a visual viewpoint. You're better off googling level maps on Google image search.
