Never bored. Hard-headed. Always working on something: lectures, garden, knitting, experiments, computers, birdwatching, family. Likes beer with friends.
A friend, hopelesly, said: "Well, my father survived the Great Depression." And I answered:" My parents survived WW2, in air raid cellars and fear, every day. That does not mean I care to repeat that."
And yes, we need to hold on to much more than just survival!

I ventured into the -10F cold last night to photograph the planets. To the southwest we have Saturn, Venus, and Neptune; Mars, Jupiter, Uranus are up easterly. Mercury might join above the horizon in a few days.
I was asked: What does this mean for humanity?
My answer: Nothing.

Bumbling my way into Bluesky. Every blue sky looks much better with a graupelgewitter. Not sure I need more distractions, though.
