Not the main point, but this section on the Medicaid work requirements shows that the Republican model of "efficiency" is simply creating a ridiculous new bureaucracy that will force people off Medicaid.
To implement the program, CMS will have to create "rules engines" for software developers to be able to account for a person's time, he explained. "What are the rules for work hours? How do you have to actually adjudicate it? For example, what if you're paid a salary, but there's no hours on there? So we are going to adopt a process ... Maybe, for example, we'll divide the salary you have by $15 an hour ... and then we'll just give you credit for that many hours." Another example: "What does it mean if you're at school 'halftime,' how many hours is that?" he added. "And then, if you're doing community engagement, who's allowed to credential you for community engagement? Do they have to be a 501(c)(3)? So we've been spending a lot of time on that."

I'm not a fan of fat shaming, but criticizing these guys is absolutely fair game. What a weird take.

People will do this and think that because it's "hands-free" or not on video, that it's not a distraction. But of course it is.

The Burlington Town Meeting voted overwhelmingly on a resolution condemning ICE's violations of local zoning law at the facility here. (There seems to be little recourse the town has in any enforcement toolkit-- especially since it appears ICE is pulling the Supremacy Clause.)

Not sure why someone is giving you shit. Your reaction was perfectly fine, especially given that I came in overly snarky.

(They also blocked me too for some reason?)

This study should be read by every policymaker and traffic engineer.

"The single most important behaviour, design or regulation for creating streets conducive to walking and cycling, was physical separation between the modes"

We've got a new study out, learning from a broad mixture of street users, planners and designers

www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Highlights
For marginalised street users mode separation is the key to human-scale movement.
Streets conducive to walking and cycling have functional, safe and accessible design.
Professionals must approach street design, regulation and user behaviour holistically.
Combinations of influencing factors persuade people to either use or avoid a street.
There are no easy fixes to the public realm that will work for all non-drivers.

I believe that's how the person identified themselves.

I also strongly believe the article should be naming the people quoted.

There are far too many peole who think this can't happen here.

I was really disappointed to see the comments about "white privilege" in there from a school committee member I supported.

The way ICE is tearing apart families and not giving a fuck about what happens to the children is appalling.

ICE doesn't serve any legitimate purpose and must be abolished.

"Equity Industrial Complex of consultants" is such a brain rotted phrase
One grandparent called for the removal of a broad swath of books addressing social issues, including diversity equity and inclusion, LGBTQ+, critical race theory, social and emotional learning.

He urged the committee to stop what he termed the “Equity Industrial Complex of consultants” to influence the curriculum.

“The majority of students, 92% are being cast aside...for the 8-10% who deserve special treatment,” he said.
