Anarchist weeb, screaming opossum, cat with needle and thread.
The President going on patrol? Sounds like Secret Service found no threat.

If the fascists get me, make sure I get them back

Not everyone has the energy for that, and that’s fine! I don’t have the energy for protesting, so I’m glad others are out there on my behalf.

We all can do something.

Absolutely. I’ve been listening to a Twitch streamer who debates callers using a list of topics. I can’t understand the way people fully steamroll facts with their feelings.
But for people like me who don’t have many ways to protest, I choose to spend energy on spreading information.

I didn’t read any of this as pressuring Canada. I thought it was just about pressuring the company that gives money to El Salvador, which is running a concentration camp.

These are beautiful! Good luck with the commissions 🤞

On the other hand, we can’t assume they’re fully informed and malicious. That’s not going to shift anyone from where they are.

We need a middle road with flexible paths to address smaller groups and individuals. We need to have people taking the tact that suits them best and engaging.

Both “sides” of politics are absolutely failing, I fully agree. I guess what I meant is that a lot of people know it’s snake oil and are choosing to vote for and support it because it’s aligns with their fears more than their needs. They aren’t all victims and we can’t treat any of them that way.

I’m pretty sure the 1 (of 4) times I’ve been called that I had a shot at serving, I was dismissed because I said I’m “science minded” when asked about expert testimony that disagrees.
It was a shaken baby case. I was nervous about serving but I was ready to do it.

We’re rewatching to. I found out about s2 when I got a YouTube ad. It was the first ad I’ve clicked to watch. I love this show and I just want to nerd out about it constantly

This is why people shouldn’t try to get out of jury duty. The bigots don’t, they love to serve. If we care about justice, we have to participate.
(Tacking this at the end, not direct response)

Counteract in what way?
April 21, 2025 at 7:29 AM
Placebos have been proven to work. If you believe hard enough in snake oil, it works.
April 21, 2025 at 7:26 AM
But that’s not what actually works. Emotions do. Have you ever told someone facts contrary to their beliefs and they pivot? It’s because our feelings come first. We can’t be hyper analytical *and* persuasive all the time

My mom loves Webs. It’s one of the few things I know about yarn!

I’ve seen a lot of younger people learning to repair and upcycle clothing. I’ve also seen some interest in “dumb phones”.
We need to make recycling more accessible. It’s so difficult to recycle electronics because all the parts have to be taken apart and sent to different recyclers.

Wanting newer and prettier and faster is a problem.
But the bigger problem is planned obsolescence and new tech being made incompatible with old tech. I’ve had… 3 phones in 17 years? And the current one is shared with my boyfriend.
Tech is necessary to the modern world, in good and bad ways

“AI” is good when it’s specific and the inputs are good. LLMs and image generators are not good.
