in their defense, sure it's true that they could have ignored your comments, but you certainly were fishing for debate when you came in hot with the inflammatory "if her last name hadn't been Bronte, it never would have been published" about a book originally published under a male pseudonym.

imo there's definitely no shortage of modern protest music in the hardcore, punk, screamo, etc scenes

i think it has deep intrinsic value for its subversiveness. that heathcliff is not white, though often overlooked by adaptations, is very exciting and rare.
plus Nelly's unreliable narration is far more interesting than Nick's in Gatsby. at heart it's such an awesome, utterly haunting gothic tale.

I agree—I don't think they meant to imply it was sentient. and they do have a paragraph that calls it a sentence-prediction machine. but they also, for example, personify it as "feigning success."
