“When” is doing some heavy lifting there.

I’m unaware of “lenient”deportation policies, and there is zero data on how “sanctuary cities” affect so-called illegal immigration. Neither one equals “open borders.” The country, until Trump, has abided by the law, which Congress was free to change, but did not.

Oh really? Take a look at their Constitutional interpretations of 2A (guns) and 5A/14A (abortion) before you make sweeping statements like that. SCOTUS is ripping holes in the Constitution so large that aircraft carriers can slide through.

Also, no small boat could have carried enough fuel to reach the US.

We have never had “open borders,” a fiction created by the GOP during the late Obama years and ratcheted up during the Biden years.
December 6, 2025 at 7:58 PM
Law school taught that SCOTUS was/is non-partisan, but that has never been true. The entire history of the Warren Court, e.g., was partisan. The problem is that life itself is partisan, and thus interpretations of the Constitution to address those life issues will, perforce, be partisan.

They might try, but the fact is that SCOTUS numbers varied throughout the country’s first 80 years, reaching 9 with the Judiciary Act of 1869. Note: that was a law passed by Congress and signed by the President. We can amend that law.

Disagree. Strongly.

What are you doing here? RBG died in 2020, while Trump was Prez. Go sell BS elsewhere.
December 6, 2025 at 7:21 PM
Beg to differ. The “originalist position,” as you put it, is a BS fig leaf for imposing conservative religious values on the nation. If SCOTUS truly relied on an “originalist” interpretation of 2A, we would not have 450 million guns in private hands.

Someone pointed out that a boat that small would have to refuel 20 times before it reached the US. It was headed to a nearby island, not the US.

I live in a senior community as the youngest person here. I joined our “Tech Committee” to provide free help to residents dealing with their phones, tablets, etc. I am by no means tech smart, but the 12-year difference in age between me and the rest of the residents means I’m a tech genius here! 😂

You seem to think there *is* a way back at this point? I can’t agree. We are a quickly failing nation in a failing world that has been overtaken by billionaires who will let the rest of us starve, die of disease, or kill each other off. We’re past the point of no return.

Don’t blame Sotomayor. She has been a pillar of liberalism despite her religion.

Arrant bullshit
December 4, 2025 at 10:01 PM
It all makes sense now. I couldn’t imagine how Oklahoma could make such a decision, but now that a trans person is involved, I see their logic. Trans=bad. Religion = good. This is the kind of f*cked up world we live in now. Avoid OK at all costs. Horrible state.

I got this album for Christmas when I was 13. I wore straight through the grooves, playing it.

Trust me - as a person who struggled to escape winter starting at age 11, I am deliriously happy living in San Diego at age 73.
