But besides Yakuza 2 that year also got: Ninja Gaiden II, Lost Odyssey, DMC4, MGS4, GTA4, Prince of Persia, Gears of War 2, Dead Space, LBP, L4D, SoulCalibur IV, MKvsDCU, Crisis Core, GoW Chains of Olympus, etc.

I used to love Assassin's Creed passionately. But I checked out immediately after we lost this team. I was hoping they will be the core and driving force of the series that we follow the entire time, like Stargate SG-1. Without Desmond, Lucy, Shaun and Rebecca, the series lost its soul.

Kiryu Kazuma - Like a Dragon keeps bringing him back even with Ichiban as protagonist.
Hayabusa Ryu - Ninja Gaiden is nothing without iconic dragon ninja.
Peter Parker - no matter the Spider-Man, people will always want this person under the mask.
Bayonetta - it will never work without Cereza.

I ended feeling that Ghost of Tsushima ends up with a better story still. Samurai who has to become a ninja because honor doesn't bring results and doesn't win wars, leads to a more interesting character developments and interpersonal conflicts than revenge.

In games with optional content, I think your community wants to hear an opinion about certain aspect that is most likely incredible, but can be missed if you just run the main stuff. Thus you as a reviewer might be skipping something amazing and community doesn't get to hear an opinion on it.
