Today marks the 65th anniversary of Nigeria’s liberation from the British Empire.
Happy Independence Day Nigeria🇳🇬🦅🇳🇬

Here’s hoping the nations making up Nigeria can go one step further & return to their pre colonial borders
& gain true autonomy & leadership for the people, voted for by the people✊🏿☀️

and the impact that racist treatment can have longterm and worse still on their children.

This important gathering launched The Motherhood Group’s latest Black Maternal Mental Health Report, under the theme “Making Black Mothers Visible.”

Black Hair Month✊🏿⚡️

Please support Black owned hair businesses💇🏿‍♀️💆🏿‍♀️

SEPTEMBER IS BLACK
HAIR MONTH!
POWER, CULTURE, AND OWNERSHIP.
(A black power emoji)
For the whole month of September we #BuyBlack.
How to take part:
Buy your products (shampoos, conditioners, oils, gels, wigs, extensions, hair equipment) exclusively from Black-owned businesses.

Share and promote Black-owned
haircare brands on your socials.
Educate others on why supporting Black ownership matters in an industry that profits heavily from us.
Reflect on your own relationship with your hair and celebrate its beauty, versatility, and cultural power.

Encourage salons, stylists, and suppliers to stock and champion Black-owned brands.

This month isn't just about hair-it's about power, culture, and ownership. Black women are the largest consumers in the Black hair industry, yet ownership and representation are still minimal.

By uniting our purchasing power, we show the industry that we demand better quality, more representation, and more Black-owned leadership.

Together, we can create a powerful shift-one purchase, one conversation, one coil, curl or wave at a time. Antoinette and the award winning Hair stylist Charlotte Mensah pictured together in Charlotte’s hair salon in Notting Hill.
