Oh this one really doesn't resonate with the audience, huh?

NEVER!!

Eventually you get up, it's not happening anymore and might as well never have, you're back to the playground same as you ever were just shifted to a new hue.

Maybe it was never the croup that ruined you, maybe the second hand smoke and asbestos that built your home, street, school and life never fouled your lungs. Maybe it was today, here and now when the rot set into you.

Eventually running gets you back to clear grass where you can fall and roll, choke, cough, sputter, and finally breath. And look back as the blue hangs in the air, slowly drifting vaguely away from you.
February 23, 2025 at 6:45 AM
The sun shining between the blue as if swallowed by a gentle cloud just like when you're meant to calm down and breath, instructed by the art teacher sitting cross legged on the classroom carpet- doesn't matter however as you search desperately for the way out through streaming, squinting eyes.

No lemony freshness cutting through the rot. No squeaky clean to save you from the dusting of decay you know is eating through your skin.
February 23, 2025 at 6:44 AM
It's in your eyes, it's on your skin. You can't breathe and it's in your mouth- there's no hint in the overwhelming, burning experience of mould that clouds and fills all your senses that ever there even was a lemon.
February 23, 2025 at 6:43 AM
- but you don't need to worry that you've missed the lemon as you're immediately, instantly swallowed by a cloud of powdery, dry blue.
February 23, 2025 at 6:43 AM
Maybe someone dared you or maybe it was just for attention, regardless you run up to boot the thing. There is no squish, no squelch, it doesn't fly into the asbestos fence with a satisfying splat-

Perhaps it's because you watched in your peripheral, not always consciously, as it moved from the dimpled, thick yellow skin to the fascinating landmine that threatens to poison your bare feet.

Despite you and all the others giving it a wide birth of several meters whenever you're out in the yard it is so obviously and clearly a lemon and a large one at that.
