Which house needs insulation? Warm air rises and escapes through an attic that isn't properly air sealed and doesn't have enough insulation. That warm air will melt the snow off your roof. You're paying for the warm air so air seal and insulate your attic to keep that warm air in your home.

Clean your fan blades & switch the direction! Colder weather means making sure ceiling fans are spinning the right way. Most ceiling fans have a switch on the side that changes the direction & in winter, it's supposed to spin clockwise so it pulls air up & pushes the warm air from the ceiling down.

The best way to find your air leakage total & locations is with a blower door. During the blower door test, we'll also perform zonal tests to the attic, garage, & other areas outside the envelope. The closer to 50.0 pascals, the better. Schedule now: greencatservices.com/schedule

Don't forget to replace your furnace filter if it's dirty! How often you change it will depend on a few factors like the size of the filter, use of your AC/furnace, if you have pets, and frequency of cleaning around your home (dusting/vacuuming).

The attic is a great place for finding areas of air leakage but easier and quicker fixes are plumbing penetrations under sinks. Seal around the pipe to reduce your air leakage!

We're going to check for smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, too, as a part of our energy audit. Health and safety are the most important aspects of a home energy audit.

Such a vibe! Lighting is a very important part of creating your perfect space but if you're still using old bulbs, you could be losing more than just a good aesthetic. Update your bulbs and other lighting to LED lights to save money. No reason not to upgrade!
