So what often governments do including the US? Create another, seemingly bigger issue to shift the focus of the people away like starting a war.

Why is there so much attention to the far-right activist CK, while thousands of innocent people die daily in Palestine and in Ukraine? And those people feel like nobody cares anymore.
Yet the death of CK fills a stadium, and it's all over in the news. Where is this world heading?
