I was trying to avoid Godwin’s Law, but you are very correct. In many ways, incompetence is a feature of Fascist regimes, not a bug.

1 Fascism is not binary: it’s a spectrum. E.g.Military in the streets, open graft, dismantling of independent powers bases.

2 fascism should not be defined by competence. Some failures do not make the administration less fascist overall. Pinochet lost power, but he still ruled a fascist regime.

Seems like there is not a meeting of the minds about what “country” means. Most of the geographical areas have not seen “very dramatic” runup in housing costs. But most of the population of the US HAS experienced such runups. Because cities are densely populated, and rural areas are not.
