No… shit? I’m good. I have a great therapist. I’m very good at taking care of me these days. This post was about exactly that… that I’m feeling good.

I have a new partner who makes me very happy, but I’d be happy on my own, too.
I’m cool like that

I may have ruined sci-fi for myself. When they said they’d identified “a sequence that codes for a virus” I instantly went “That’s not what genes code for. That’s not how viruses work.”

It weirdly was MORE plausible when “us” explained it wasn’t a virus but more like psychic glue 😂👩‍🔬

(As I said in the post, it’s locked down now) 🙄

Gee thanks for the useless advice. Wouldn’t have come up with that on my own.

Also, BOLD of you to assume I went about this as “because I said so” and haven’t discussed with her budget as well as the very valid reasons for a CHILD not to have unfettered access to the internet. THE INTERNET. JFC.

I’ve already addressed that multiple times in these replies. It costs well over $100/month here in Canada and that’s simply not in my budget as a single parent and full time student receiving no child support.

Well i still have to pay the overage, but at least I’ve got her devices set up to where she can’t go over accidentally anymore. When she has a steady enough babysitting income to pay for more data, she can do that. TIL then, she’s cut off when she hits the limit :)

You’re right. My house my kid. I completely disagree with everything you’re saying. If you’re not a parent of a young teen, you have no place judging my parenting, nor did I ask for your unsolicited input.

“Doing things like this” as in what?
My kid has access to age-appropriate apps and connection, til her bedtime every night. If shutting her devices off at bedtime and preventing her from downloading x-rated apps at 13 makes me unsafe, then so be it.

As for “controlling thin budgets” I’m a single parent and full time student, who receives zero child support and whose kids see their dad every other weekend.
The budget is paper thin. If I have to pay $50 extra for the phone, that’s $50 in groceries I can’t afford. So I “think” nothing. I KNOW.

She’s still a child who NEEDS boundaries set by her parent, whether or not she understands why they are being implemented.
If she wants to go no-contact because I prioritized her mental health and sleep over her ability to snap chat until midnight… well so be it I guess. But I doubt it. 2/2

The thing is, she’s still a child. If she believes I’m harming her in some way by limiting her access to devices, I can’t change her way of thinking.
But this child is also the same one who comes to me when she needs a hug, or advice about a friend or a boy.
