Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil can't get their story straight on Mercosur

Last December their MEPs voted to delay and weaken safeguards against deforestation in Mercosur countries
January 14, 2026 at 11:59 AM
X's continued promotion of the Grok AI tool and complete lack of safeguards must now be investigated as a criminal matter.

In the meantime, Government must enable Coimisiún na Meán to step in and regulate this platform appropriately.
January 13, 2026 at 2:23 PM
Tomorrow the European Council of Ministers will vote to ratify the Mercosur trade deal, which will be damaging for trade, the environment, and our health.

Who would’ve thought it?

When you spend months paralysing the Government just for Michael Lowry and his mates to ask you questions, you are left with a legislative wasteland.

If the Government are going to increase energy bills to fund the expansion of our grid, it is critical that hard pressed customers get some payback.

We need to see the scaling up of pilot schemes that divert excess renewable power to lower-income households to meaningfully tackle energy poverty.

The EU Commission has recommended a three-year extension of the Nitrates Derogation - but this must not be treated as business as usual.

Government must act now to properly fund farmers to protect water quality and secure a sustainable future for Irish agriculture.

The Galway Luas will be a key part of Galway Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy (GMATS) and must be added to it during the next review.

In the meantime, preferred route selection can be progressed - moving these plans closer to reality.

Hoteliers should be warned that any price gouging during Euro 2028 should come with severe consequences.

Government cannot allow our international reputation to be tarnished during such an important event for our tourism sector.

Our addiction to fossil fuels is driving up emissions and driving up costs for households.

Make no mistake: not doubling down on cleaner power sources will continue to leave customers hugely exposed to spikes in oil and gas prices.

Hope is back.

New Yorkers have given Zohran Mamdani a clear mandate for affordable housing, fast and frequent public transport, and a climate policy that works for everyone.

Domestic violence victims that need to flee dangerous situations cannot afford to be locked out of accessing transport.

We were delighted to support our cross-party group’s fourth piece of legislation to establish a free travel scheme for victims and survivors.

One dead every minute.

That is a frightening statistic from the latest climate report in the Lancet, which lays bare the consequences of our addiction to fossil fuels.
