This is actually my intention - getting a good antibody for IF. We have a good Cell Signaling ab for FACS and WB but it doesn't work well in IHC. I would probably give it one more clean, concentrate and we will be golden. Also of course for CO-IP and CHIP where it would be much cheaper

we use KO controls wherever possible, including proteomics :)) (at least for the input protein or pulldown)

we have a good recombinant one for human CDK8, but the options for mouse are very limited. Also if you need CHIPs, CO-IPs and the like, a in-house ab saves a lot of money. As we have a KO control I think it's OK to use with appropriate controls

We use proteomics too :)). Just got nice results for CDK8 dependent phosphoproteom in neurons!
