/1: What I can't quite grasp at the moment is the fact that the views are upside down to one another, maybe mirrored, I can't fathom the Google description just yet.

I've since learnt from Google that yes indeed the view from the two hemispheres are different. The phases of the moon are the same but the illuminated side is opposite. Continued/1

Are you in the Northern Hemisphere? The moon looks backward to me (I'm in Australia).
