So proud of Angelenos for using nonviolence to stand up for civil rights. A little over a month ago I was at the King Center, where the six principles of nonviolence are printed on stone. thekingcenter.org/about-tkc/th...

It is infuriating that this now needs to be part of high school curricula. youtu.be/VUErkf3XEEs?... Because Republicans care more about money than our kids.

And what's up with "Run Hide Fight is a registered trademark of the city of Houston"??? That is not a good thing for your city to be known for

SB 72 makes the state start planning for 9 million acre feet of new water supply. Goodbye everything Californians care about that makes our state special.

Gov signed this into law. This is the most unhinged disconnected-from-reality thing. Unless you want to flood the Mojave Desert (a horrible idea) there is no use for this much water. It will be expensive, both ecologically and environmentally. We must get this overturned, or we have doomed CA nature

The rockwork is expanding
Muir Woods is where the Valley's landing

Okaaaay, I'm not seeing that in my search results today--today it is telling me it doesn't exist. This implementation of AI is worse than worthless and keeps getting worse. The Silicon Valley tradition of releasing flawed beta projects has reached a new low.

When Google's AI search tells you that Excelsior Mountain is the second-highest peak in the Sierra Nevada (it is really 8th highest just in Yosemite, which doesn't even have any of the 14 or so peaks over 14,000 feet), you know AI technology is fundamentally flawed and needs bigger-print disclaimers

At the same time, MAGA needs to step back from the brink and let real scientists (those following the scientific method and not just belief) dominate the discussion of cutting edge or economically and ideologically troublesome questions.
Lies destroy. Save our country and our constitution with truth
gregorreis.bsky.social
MAGA needs to stay in its lane, acknowledge and assert that its unproven beliefs are no more valid than anyone else's, stop using government and corporations to promote lies and conspiracy theories, and allow freedom of thought to return to this once-free evidence-driven science-embracing country.
gregorreis.bsky.social
Science inspires us to realize that everything is connected. But a step too far in that direction leads to questions science has not yet answered (obscure, difficult, expensive, economically less-relevant or inconvenient) or is ill equipped to handle (religion, faith, belief).

when it comes to kicking the clay feet of would-be dictators. Mark Twain said it best: Against the assault of laughter nothing can stand. Which is what makes Kimmel so relevant in this moment.

Oh look, a brand new Climate Action Plan going to Novato (CA) city council tomorrow.

88% of transportation and land use reductions to be accomplished through electric cars. Everything else is peanuts.

And, as usual, the lion's share of GHG reductions are to come from people buying $50k electric cars rather than $2k electric bikes.

Tupe Nobe represents the first land formally owned & managed by the Mono Lake Kootzaduka’a Tribe since the European American settlement of the Mono Basin 200 years ago. Prior to the Mono Lake Kootzaduka’a Tribe’s ownership, Tupe Nobe was known as Burger’s Sierra Retreat (where I lived summer 1996!).

My daughter knows I have a spring water collection. She has decided to start a rain water collection.

So nice. Kids love it, we'll never get to bed.

It is a good summer for canceling expensive harmful dam projects. Unfortunately, someone is always trying to convince taxpayers to waste their money on dams.
