Partially agree but don’t think it’s “most.” Exacerbating factors were that this was the Olympics (global stage) and we Canadians think we are by definition morality incarnate and any perceived misstep means there has to be an incredibly overbearing clutching of pearls.

If there's no decision in 20 seconds there was clearly no clear and obvious error and the initial call should stand. That should be the rule. I'm open to quibbling on whether it should 10 or 30 seconds :)

They have to. There's too many people trying to raise a down payment for a house with the current asking prices on the re-sale platform. There's just not enough people who can & will pay these prices. But yeah, it's sure sucking the joy out of the run to this WC.

And yes it's been pointed out to me that I messed up and said it was Holland v West Germany in the '78 final. That was of course the '74 final and Argentina then beat Holland at home in '78.

Credit to FIFA for one thing. I can go into their re-selling platform right now & buy a ticket for the final. That was never an option for me in 2014 or 2022. There's one ticket available at Cat 4 for C$2840. Cat 1, 2 and 3 also show one ticket available. Cat 1 is $9240.

It really is. My son played soccer and t-ball with Finn. My wife and his mom were friends thru that. No one then would’ve guessed such a quiet kid would become a famous actor. And yeah, the Mats are one of my faves so full circle. Also: Let It Be released this day in 1985.

The Athletic pieced together ticket prices based on info posted by those who were in the first wave of buyers allowed into the Visa Pre-sale Draw. It ain't pretty but it ain't as bad for BC Place games as those prices for Canada's first game in Toronto.

It’s maybe the least spoken aspect of the Caps season so far. Jesper has been playing young Canadian players, partially out of necessity due to injuries and fixture congestion, at rate we haven’t seen before. And they’ve done well.

This totally changed my mood after seeing what FIFA decided World Cup ticket prices would be. They’ve ceded our game to financial analysts who’d rather see 60,000 day tripping multi-millionaires, who barely know the players or rules, at their premier event than people who deeply care about it.

Maybe you don’t like MLS, CPL, the CSA or CSB but I think most of us, and definitely me, who follow soccer here must’ve been smiling tonight to see two professional teams from Vancouver, who play in different leagues, playing a derby game to see who would qualify for the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
