This is why some energy wonks are working so hard with the real estate developers to bring the data centers online. There isn't some natural pent up demand for the digital services but there is a lot of money riding on *looking* like there is. Don't the chips become obsolete pretty quickly..?
Two weeks ago I said that there were likely millions of uninstalled Blackwell GPUs sitting in warehouses as there is neither the data center capacity nor the power to turn them on. Michael Burry is looking into it and it looks like he’s got evidence I’m right.

It is not in the interest of DTE to produce a legitimate valuation of their assets. The city should not take their feasibility study at face value. Ann Arbor residents I hope you’re paying close attention. You should control your electric bills, not an investor owned utility like DTE.

too bad Council couldn’t see this as the necessary investment in independent control and community resilience that it truly is… disappointed Ann Arbor!
The project to continue to look further into Ann Arbor Public Power does not get enough votes. CMs feel that $1.7 mill is just too much to spend right now with the current funding climate. #A2Council

Council tonight voted to face an onslaught on our public institutions and complete abandonment of our climate obligations at the federal level with submission. This type of cowardice will be remembered

I’m about to get a lot more annoying on here about #a2council. You’ve been warned.

Doing or not doing anything because of what the federal govt might or might not do is a perfect stage set for further disaster in Ann Arbor. You can’t let Trump scare off any progress at all

Two anti-public power speakers spoke at Ann Arbor City Council tonight, presenting as simple concerned citizens. Sat in different places in the audience, but strangely left together and were reading from memos in the same format

There’s something deeply foreboding about billionaires desperately pleading for someone to accept any amount of money to save them from climate change

We shouldn’t accept that a CEO killer must get a national manhunt when cops don’t solve most murders at all. A migrant teenager was just murdered in NYC, cops just killed a guy here — the lives of these other people are worth just as much as that CEO.
