To be fair, the X-Men can't hold a small summer bbq without a bunch of people dying.
If that bunch of people were going to die anyway, why not at a fancy party with lots of horny mutants, an open bar (for the first two hours, Asteroid M wasn't made out of gold, people...)and passed appetizers?

Brain chemistry is weird and unpredictable, especially with things like depression with so many unknowns in play.

Had this happen when I had it used as anesthesia. Took maybe 72 hours for me to get back to a baseline 'normal'.
Somebody explained it to me as the dissociative effect of the drug making all the feels sort of happen at once, especially supressed/repressed stuff.
