where darkness
deepens,
light leans closer,
caressing edges
with a lingering touch

light and shadow
moving like lovers,
each breathing life
into the other

It takes courage to love this world over and over again.

I write of you in the language of dreams.

a meeting of shadows,
a place where longing leans toward light

they find one another
stretching long in the late sun,
they cross and mingle,
they part,
and sometimes join again

a simple thing,
like wind in the grass,
or the hush of footsteps in fallen leaves

I wrote a poem about you once
Used the ocean as a metaphor
You didn't see it
and I never told you

And yet, the tide still ebbs and flows
The earth still spins
and I...
well, I'm still too insignificant for the ink that spills from your pen

tiny grey birds playing in the fern, wild violets hidden beneath the willow, velvet moss tucked between slate steppingstones— all this, and a soft rain... just for today, this is the palette of my soul.

Every day I look at the life in the eyes. I see sadness and despair, I see joy and love. I breathe deeply, and carry on.

Her aura burns brightly
Captivating unconsciously
She draws you in forever
