Social identity theory explains pretty much everything. I enjoy that its roots are in HR and it was developed when people tried to understand why colleagues fought over petty things in offices.

Instead they’ve gone for cutting money to end poverty and spending it on guns as the narrative. I completely understand the need for more defence spending, but cutting aid to do it is just cruel
