Basically nothing really changed with Skybound Transformers comics. Still they strive to kill off entire roster of characters, still they do cheap feelz moments, still... well Ok, they put squishing humans on pause. Yay...

I grew up at a time TV masters could have lots of film scratches and dirt so that's kinda nostalgic to me.

Bur if it's in a rough shape with constant damage... at that point I don't think it's matter of charm, but of "it's the best source available".

Indeed. 8[
(This comes from early 2000's VHS release of Flash Gordon animated movie. THE LAST VHS release as well as last home media release in general of the movie... No idea if all copies are affected, let alone if VHS decode might help. No one seems to be in a rush to save this gem)

When a colourist hides behind a company name it's almost always guaranteed to be a disaster. CASE IN POINT:

But we know the actual design of Cybertron in robot mode. Designs were being done at Marvel, by Floro Dery for that script. 8I

That went on for 91 issues. Years later NOW Comics did theirs. And oh, look, they had HARLAN ELLISON writing. And Don Glut. And JMS! Real writers who understand this stuff! All with pretty fine artists. Was short lived, but they understood the damn thing.

Now lets take a look back at 20th century. Gold Key was the first to do Twilight Zone comics. The publisher wasn't know for the most amazing scripts ever, but they sure had lots of talented artists. (The page on the right is by Alex Toth)

Previous issue was done by different people and it too failed to match maturity of Twilight Zone. When your stuff looks like this it ain't worth reading. Comic book is a visual medium so if you fail at art, you've failed with everything.

How dumb IDW is? They had the guy who did the moronic Transformers - GoBots crossover write and draw Twilight Zone comic book. The guy whose whole schtick is pseudo Jack Kirby art style and nonsensical writing.

The editor was asleep.

And the art is just so amazing. Totally doesn't scream "I don't get it".

Oh, yes, I always wanted dick jokes in something I loved since I was a toddler.

There's an anime movie called "Legend of the Overfiend". It's erotic horror and when a Yugoslav distributor saw it, they must've gone "That's fuckin' p0rn!" and changed its title to:
"S E X 3000"... 🥴

I've been told before that I'm tripping balls when I said that every now and then Mattel makes He-Man whiter (in print especially). :v

Here's something wild. Asterix comics actually made it into USA as a newspaper comic in 1977:

People keep calling Ulysses 31 the space Jesus, but in reality TMS modeled him after the show's co-creator - Jean Chalopin.

(Sorry for the low rez pics. Ones of the time are very scarce online)
