Sometimes anticipation of something is misinterpreted as survival of nothing. Attention spans and empathy DO need to be challenged, we’re not supposed to feed into those urges to commit to and feel nothing every time

I don’t think they CAN’T be used effectively, and I know this makes me sound like a raging snob if I don’t clarify as much, but man, the tension that they’re able to dissolve. the pacing that they affect. can we pretend they don’t exist again

because that is the friendlier thing to do! as opposed to “I knew that, dumbass!” if you let people feel useful and enlightening all the time, they will assume you are aware of nothing on your own

people treat me like I know fuck-all most of the time and the truth of it is that I just try not to correct folks when it isn’t too important, and that if you think you’re teaching me something I’ll pretend 9 times out of 10 that I didn’t already know it
