RIP Danny Thompson (1939-2025). He leaves behind an astonishing discography of wonderful vinyl. Here’s a favourite among many, many favourites that we will be spinning today

Stumbled across a Jamaican press of Gregory Isaacs’ debut in a charity shop (£4) - worth it for the Ford Capri on the cover alone

They are still out there

A mate just found a copy of this prog folk holy grail in a charity shop for a £1 (signed as well). Pretty good work - as there’s currently one on eBay with a bid of £810 on it!

I suppose I could pretend not to be jealous

This is different. A turntable that uses an optical sensor rather than a stylus - and plays your vinyl vertically, you can even mount it on your wall (if you trust your DIY skills that is)

It’s called the Miniot Wheel 3. We’re intrigued

Has to be one of the cooler Scottish Championship third kit / Skids debut album collaborations out there this season. Good work from Dunfermline Athletic

There’s a pleasing circularity about owning the actual vinyl that turned you onto the music in the first place

What are you bidding on?

This is great! I remember visiting Volcanic Tongue with my wife once: back in 20something or other, then went to Duke’s Bar & Sparklehorse, ended up in Mother India before getting a Joe baxi back into the centre - the most West Glasgow day out ever. Magic! The compilation for David’s book is a must.

Seen this ad? A denim jacket that proudly displays the album of your choice. It’s got to be the ideal way of showing the world that you own a Nick Drake first press… hasn’t it?

Stickers on record boxes? Now you’re talking

I wasn’t being entirely serious with that suggestion!

Rest in peace, Mick Ralphs

Groovy Times has a massive soft spot for this on vinyl

An interesting recent charity shop find - £3 (they still exist! Though barely)

The Fence - Harold McNair (B & C Records, 1970). Sleeve was issued with a pink pouch with a balloon inside. These are long gone but still a cool album
