Will be catching up on the rest of the tennis tomorrow morning. Today was a two pod day so pretty exhausted. If you haven’t already check out our Australian Open Round 3 and 4 review and Quaterfinal preview. Lucy Deuce joins me for this one.

Unreal! I just love watching Sabalenka play tennis. When she decides to dominate a match she just does it. Takes the second set 6-0 because she didn’t get it in the first set 😮‍💨
Jovic will get there. She has time and is incredibly coachable as I have learnt today.

Aryna Sabalenka is just in a different weight class. Wins the first set
Jovic made some great adjustments but it was not enough. I will say this is very much looking like Mama Bear versus baby bear.

It’s here!
Australian Open Threads. The episode we get asked about the most during Grand Slam season. Joined once again by Ian from Forty-Love Tennis
We break down the biggest looks of the tournament and do the usual brand by brand breakdown.
Enjoy.

Call her Jessica “straight sets” Pegula because this run to the quarterfinals has been easy breezy cover girl. She seems to be playing so within herself which is what you want at this point of the tournament.

Jessica Pegula starting strong and taking the first set. First time I have watched her live this tournament and she is looking good 👀
Also Chanda Rubin on the call is so good. I always learn something.

Juan Carlos Ferrero announces he is going to come back to coach and his new athlete is a…
Golfer!
This is so fascinating and I kinda love it.
He will be added to golfer Angel Ayora’s team and will focus on the mental side of the sport. Love this crossover

I mean what else can be said about Iva Jovic.
She’s good.
Quarterfinalist at the Australian Open.

Really great match. Mboko play well but Sabalenka is so good right now and that tiebreak, 20th tiebreak she has won in a row at grand slams. She is locked in.

Alright. Vicky Mboko came to play. Back on serve in the 2nd!
January 25, 2026 at 1:59 AM
Starting today with Sabalenka v Mboko and Aryna is playing so well this first set. Up a double break and serving for the set.

What a day. Just recorded our Australian Open Grand Slam Threads episode (out tomorrow). Trying to make sure I am ready for a winter storm while keeping it all together. Hope everyone is well this Saturday and staying safe.

This is our only reason for existing. To bring you the under told stories. We might be small but as long as there are stories worth telling, like Eliot Spizzirri’s. We will be there.
Good Night.

Incredible match played by Eliot Spizzirri. Incredibly hard worker who showed today what he is capable of. It’s been a privilege to cover him and tell his story for over a year and a half. And it’s only the beginning.
“We’ve come a long way since Champaign, IL”

That’s that fitness built in the Off Season. So proud of Eliot Spizzirri today.

In our last ep we thought the WTA next Gen had a great chance of making it into the 2nd week of the Australian Open & they all did. Mboko, Jovic & Andreeva are making their presence felt on tour. Rd 3 continues today catch up on our rd 1 & 2 takes and look ahead to rd 3.

Sabadabadoo. Never in doubt. But that was fun. Now I have the 4th round match I had hopped for. Victoria Mboko v Aryna Sabalenka.
Clear my schedule.

They was ALL heart! Victoria Mboko makes it to the second week of the Australian Open and that was honestly all grit and belief. What a fighter. Could have easily tapped out and she just didn’t. Very impressed.

I (Anastasia) asked @nickcartertennis.bsky.social today on the pod if Fonseca was over hyped. I should have rephrased the question as “Is Learner Tien underhyped?” Makes the 2nd week of the Australian Open for the 2nd year in a row and if you weren’t in tennis you would never know.

Eliot Spizzirri got through a tough 5 set match yesterday because to quote Chris Eubanks “Spizzirri is a DOG” He is into the 3rd round of the Australian Open. His best Grand Slam performance. Must be that Off Season work

What a moment!!! I love grand slam tennis!
Nikola Bartunkova defeats Belinda Bencic completely out playing her. Qualifies for her first grand slam and gets to the 3rd round by beating Belinda Bencic. Her game is great, her celebrations make me a fan.

So yeah anyway we have this documentary series featuring Ethan Quinn and what can I tell you… he worked really hard this Off Season. The Nobu bill also helped.
We’re into the 3rd round baby!
