the addition of Andrew Kittredge does a fair bit to move the needle toward my having a favorable view of the Orioles offseason. but that Ace is so desperately needed that I’d hate for all these other good moves to feel like a half measure

for their full-throated backing of Thomas Partey through the last two-three years, I hope Arsenal never win another piece of silverware in my lifetime

for yesterday’s snow day I hit a Hundreds of Beavers / The Gold Rush double feature, which was not only glorious but also puts me at a crossroads as to whether I’d like to have a Fur Trapper Winter or a Gold Prospector Winter

lots of snow in MD. if I don’t get much reading done today then I don’t imagine it’ll be much of a reading week at all

last year when the Orioles crashed out on Kimbrel I thought, “surely they’ve learned their lesson on taking gambles on waning veterans instead of spending proper money on a team that needs it.”

how naive that thought was…

hoping to read (at least) one Larry McMurtry novel a month this year, including all of the Houston and Lonesome Dove novels. read Pretty Boy Floyd last year and loved it so I can only imagine how good it’ll be with the added scope and scale.

a good review of one of my favorite releases of last year
Jumping from a jazz-prodigy past to a slot on Mac DeMarco’s label, the L.A. bassist and songwriter channels his myriad influences into a loosey-goosey, feel-good universe of all-American pop

Read Sue Park’s review of the album.

Lamar is MVP. Orioles should easily pay that $250 mil. to Burnes. those are my thoughts on baltimore sports this evening

I like the Horwitz trade for the Pirates. finally, a long-term plan for a position that’s been a real pain in the ass for the last few years. 125 OPS+ should look good over a whole season and there is only room to develop

I always get crazy envious of all these LA / Chicago / NY types who get to regularly see Frederick Wiseman films on the big screen. need the AFI Silver here in DC to step up to the plate in that regard

finished Colson Whitehead’s Nickel Boys today and made the mistake of looking it up on Goodreads. that right there is the perfect website to wipe from existence. you’d lose absolutely nothing

I’m finally at the age where I couldn’t possibly fit in a rewatch of all the Christmas movies I really love. good problem to have

end-of-year music posting is making me jealous this year. so many people with hours logged listening to Bladee… that could’ve been me :/
