Слава Україні! Black Lives Matter. Women's Rights are Human Rights. Tax the Super Wealthy. Trump is a Criminal. USA is *not* #1 except in incarcerations and gun deaths.
Why does anyone report or comment on what Megyn Kelly says? Let’s just all agree ignore her. And Candace. And the not-dead Kirk look-alike. And Noem. And Leavitt. And Patel. Etc. And Chump for that matter.

Did you try ChatGPT? I did…NBC+, NBCX, NBC Now, NBC Pulse, NBC Insight. So much better than MSNOW. Suck suck suck suck.
December 14, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Well, now it’s MSNOW. how fucking stupid. Microsoft is not a news company. I don’t want news and analysis from them. Ok honestly I don’t want anything from them, but certainly not news. You decided to change the name, ok, but is that honestly the best you could come up with?!?!

Doing what exactly?

You’re assuming the court will be self-consistent for a democratic president or that they won’t fabricate some “logic” as to why their previous rulings don’t apply to the D president.
December 10, 2025 at 9:17 AM
Yeah, I hear you….
December 7, 2025 at 7:08 PM
Ok. I take back the extra special sauce in my comment, then. Point still stands, but with a softer delivery. I see your point, too. YOB should be context-sensitive…

Well done, mayor! I always appreciate a fellow American who tries to meet foreign visitors in their language, instead of arrogantly or lazily or desperately expecting/assuming they will speak English.

OTOH, Go Pats! ;-)

How dare you!

Most people entering data are engineers or programmers. They’re parents signing up their kids for next school year and the like. Obvs yyyy.mm.dd is the best, but most people know dd.mm or mm.dd.
dd.mm

I can’t understand systems that refuse to accept hyphenated names. I swear my credit cards, passport, tax docs, etc are all different. Oh, and sometimes require middle name, sometimes not. And sometimes cuts off my long hyphenated surname. Looking at you US airlines and TSA.
December 7, 2025 at 4:39 PM
Seriously?!? “Please enter us details of your children: name, DOB, etc”. What? Nothing after 2015?!?! Doctor, school, passport, etc. You must be joking.
December 7, 2025 at 4:35 PM
Oh god no! That’s the worst! If the shape changes, I go nuts.

Drop-downs are not a problem.
December 7, 2025 at 4:30 PM
The first step of validation is knowing what are/aren’t the possible valid values. If you can prevent the invalid ones, you’ve just saved yourself a step.

Congratulations, you’ve convinced me: drop-downs it is.

We get it, you don’t like ‘em. You’re wrong, but we get it.
December 7, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Validating the format *is* data validation. Not all of it, but it’s part of it. I mean, it’s in the phrase.
December 7, 2025 at 4:22 PM
Ffs, you don’t need an LLM for data format validation. It’s not like we haven’t been doing that for decades.

And what are these “couple of less thans” you keep prattling on about?

Yeah, we all “reat” your post. That’s why we have comments.

Users were already “conforming to a database convention” because the db was designed to capture data on…. paper forms! (Gasp!) school, doctor or other intake forms had a structure: title, first name, etc. Fuck, have you looked at your birth certificate recently? DBs just used that structure.
December 7, 2025 at 4:10 PM
Have you honestly never seen ChatGPT just make shit up? Get simple calculations flat out wrong? You want to rely on something like that? I don’t. Not for cases that have easy solutions. Sorry, you’re not proving a point or swaying anyone. But good on you for driving engagement.

Lists of 1800-2025…. If the list lets you type the year and instantly get to the correct year, how is that different from free-form, except that free-form allows the possibility of errors?
