New bus boarding island at 41st Street and Queens Boulevard!

The presentation for the Queens Boulevard bike lane in Sunnyside said there were plans for two #bus boarding islands; if anyone has seen the other one, please put it in the replies!

At the intersection of 41st Street and Queens Boulevard, in front of a Chipotle fast-food restaurant, a passenger boards a Q32 bus from a new concrete boarding island with red rubber ramps. There is also a strip of red rubber near where the bus stops, and a bus shelter and a trash can on the island. The island is at street level in the crosswalk, and has two orange-and-white plastic barrels and an orange rubber cone on the raised curb. A person rides an electric assist bicycle on the Queens Boulevard protected bicycle lane between the bus boarding island and the sidewalk at 41st Street and Queens Boulevard. There is a strip of red rubber near where the bus stops, and a bus shelter on the island.

Also: just about every workplace where I've been out, there has been at least one non-trans man who's told me that knowing me and seeing my self-confidence in being out has helped them to reconsider previous transphobic positions they've had.

I actually did something like this on FB in September, when I found documentation that my family enslaved people. In the 1860 census for Ellis County, Texas (south of Dallas), my great-great-grandmother, Eliza McJilton, is recorded as the owner of two human beings in one slave house.

I voted early!

I'm still not completely recovered from my sinus infection, so I had to take a nap, but then I felt well enough to walk down to vote.

Picked up some tasty momo from Momochai. Excited to vote for someone as inspiring as Zohran Mamdani, and to tell Andrew Cuomo to go back to hell!

I checked to see if there were other protests in the area, but this one in Beverly seems similarly white, judging by a photo of a previous protest at this location

And yes, I very much support using one's privilege!

Happy #FluSeason! I just went to check the @nychealthy.bsky.social PDFs and was redirected to a new website combining #influenza #RSV and #COVID data with dynamic charts, based on data that's also regularly uploaded to GitHub!

There was a #flu spike in #NYC in September.

Our small #COVID wave in #NYC seems to be ending! Cases down to 311 per lakh per day, hospitalizations at 20; 20 deaths citywide in 30 days.

I'm relieved, since I have a few in-person karaoke events coming up!

My wife and I are on the train home from a relaxing weekend in Cold Spring, NY. Yesterday we hiked over Bull Hill!

Here are hikers getting off the 10:25 this morning, and walking to and from the trailhead yesterday. The State is upgrading the paths from the village to the park!

On Sunday my wife and I visited Radburn, NJ. The large car-free interior park areas, teen boys on bikes meeting their friend at the train station, and teen girls hanging out at the neighborhood cafe, all reminded me of things @theoverheadwire.com has said about his teenage neighborhood in Houston.

Every ten years @nycparks.bsky.social oversees a Tree Census where volunteers and staff count every tree in #NYC. The 2025 Trees Count is now underway, and the next open event is July 28 at Clove Lakes Park, a 15 minute bus ride from the Staten island Ferry!

I ate Superman today. He was so creamy and so krispy...
Krispy Kreme iced coffee and donut. The donut is covered in sky-blue frosting. On top of the frosting is a dollop of kreme, and on top of the creme is a spun sugar cartoon of Superman.
