“Billboard Bubble Metric”

You know it’s a crowded field of shit when it’s worth spending money on a billboard to brag that you were able to dial down hallucinations for only a little more toxicity, or maybe increased toxicity is a selling point?

The Reluctant Plumber (tm) rides again: replaced a leaky float valve on one of our toilets.

In my years of home ownership I've done more plumbing repairs, inside and outside, than anything else. Maybe not surprising... water is very destructive and keeping it at bay is a full-time job.

OMG, re-watched the original 1997 Anaconda last night and went to see the new 2025 Anaconda tonight, so much fun!

My advice is to avoid learning anything about the new movie before you see it if you can
Alien 1979 “In space, no one can hear you scream”

Anaconda 1997 “You can’t scream if you can’t breathe”

It's December 2nd, which means that for the next 23 days, there's a high probability that you will encounter the classic film A Christmas Story broadcast on TV or streaming services.

One of the plot points in the film concerns decrypting a radio message from Orphan Annie's Secret Society, which […]

I was just at a dinner party, listening to a lovely older woman talking about her trip to Peru. She kept referring to “Machu Pichu” as “Pikachu”, and it was so charming that no one corrected her.

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

Source code and a downloadable app to try it yourself […]

Whee, with the latest improvements I got the error in my desktop clockwork toy down to 1.33 ms per second. I'm pretty happy with that!

I wrote about it here https://www.grwster.com/projects/2025/clockwork/

Maybe I should submit it to the @hackaday One Hertz Challenge ;-)
