The alternative would be that they really needed to avoid detection by having their xponder off and just have the worst radar and satellite coverage in forward areas they already control.

That the feds don't trust a state motor vehicle department to accept a birth certificate for a real ID seems like a pretty big deal.

There is no willingness to discipline people given tremendous power to execute on what's being discussed here, and the voters unwillingness to punish these people is squarely responsible for any additional deaths due to inadequate access to tech.

I'm in the exact same boat. Fusion centers, data brokering, Flock camera contracts that no public entity should ever accept. 4th and 10th amendment injuries abound.
I'm struck by the speed at which everyone is suddenly fine with the conduct of local, state and federal law enforcement.

With so many pages of detailed orders that the judge has had to bring forward without the government producing the 2019 deportation order, it seems to me that the judge should be well within her rights to deport nearly all of the government actors in this case.

Watching the DA contort in court filings, max out deadlines, and shirk victims here shows what's possible for anyone credibly accused. The people of Alameda County should have a well-regulated law enforcement apparatus and its government demonstrates over and over how far away that is from reality.

It's moments like this that remind me of Chris Rock's bit in Tambourine about how black folk are just looking for the same amount of presumed innocence and deference that rich white folks get. Like this deference should really be like a price that everyone can get when they go shopping.
